He speaks fluent English and French. Blaise is responsible for day to day operations, implementation and development of policies and procedures, human resource management and supervision at MAC.

Ed McDonald

Ed McDonald founded MAC Renovations in 1980... Today, MAC Renos has become a household name when it comes to home renovations in Greater Victoria. Ed began by installing windows and doing small renovations. In 1994, MAC became an approved contractor under the BC Hydro PowerSmart Home Improvements program, which was designed for homeowners to carry out energy-efficient home improvements. This culminated in an award of excellence in 1999. Since then, MAC has won over 30 industry awards for renovations, including several CARE, SAM, & Georgie golds. Ed is an active member of the Victoria Residential Builder's Association, and has completed courses in Aging in Place and Green Building. He proudly supports the Young Life Tour, which raises funds for working with teenagers in the community.

Derrick Newman

Project Coordinator

Derrick passion for construction was ignited 15 years ago when he had the opportunity to renovate Gwyneth Paltrow's ski chalet. He was so charged up by this project that he decided to become a journeyman carpenter, and, later on, a Gold Seal Construction Project Manager. He started at Mac as an estimator, where his experience in carpentry and management proved invaluable. Soon he was managing whole house renovations. He is skilled in 3D drafting and creating conceptual designs, which he uses to help people visualize the end goal of their project. His belief is that detailed design should precede estimates and construction, and that form should follow function. His greatest satisfaction comes from the relationships he builds with his clients and watching a plan come together. Highlights of his career have been millwork and restoration work on the Hatley Castle in Colwood, and the Sundance residence -- a renovation of a 1970's geodesic dome. Outside of work, Derrick likes to hang out with his wife, run, ride motorbikes, play guitar, rock climb, and do woodwork.

Terri W.

Kitchen & Bath Designer

When Terri was a kid, she'd spend hours building houses with Legos. It was an early sign of what was to come. After spending some time in various otehr professions, Terri retrained as building technologist, and stumbled into kitchen and bath design over 12 years ago. That's when she finally felt she'd returned 'home.' Her biggest thrill comes from helping clients reconfigure spaces in ways that they never imagined-- and squeezing as much function out of her kitchen designs as possible. The most rewarding projects for her are the ones in which the clients know what they want, but are not afraid to admit they need help getting there. Her favorite projects have been the Bergstrome residence, which won a Silver CARE award, the Funfer kitchen, and the Firth's residence. Her inspirational quote is from the late great Steve Jobs: "Design is just not what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works." In her spare time, Terri loves to read about design, paint, and travel, especially to places with outstanding architecture.
